Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
The Haverstraw community is mourning the loss of 82-year-old Juan Alberto Germosen. The deadly hit-and-run happened along Route 9W near Fairmount Avenue in Haverstraw early Tuesday morning. The vehicle involved is described as a white or silver Ford Explorer with dark rims. Officials say it is missing a passenger side mirror with damage to the side bumper. Police are asking anyone with information to call 845-354-1500.
A Westchester man is facing charges after getting caught with a loaded gun at a JFK Airport security checkpoint. The TSA says its officers found the .22-caliber gun loaded with four bullets. Port Authority police responded, confiscated the gun, and arrested the Tuckahoe man on a weapons charge.
It appears the deer with a pumpkin stuck on its head in Airmont is finally free. According to a post on a Ramapo Town Facebook page, a resident who frequently spotted the deer in his backyard says he found the plastic Halloween pumpkin Tuesday. The pumpkin had the same dent as the one stuck on the deer's head.
