Opposing viewpoints collided Saturday as hundreds rallied for and against the Atlantic Yards project.
Opponents of the project argue the developer, Bruce Ratner, can't finish the project. They're calling on Gov. David Paterson to halt construction on the project.
Supporters stood up and voiced their side as well, saying the project's completion will bring both union jobs and affordable housing to the borough.
The event was organized by the Council of Brooklyn Neighborhoods, Brooklyn Speaks and Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn. Organizers hope to stop developer Bruce Ratner from tearing down buildings, saying the project is not the same as what was approved in 2006.
Councilmembers Bill DeBlasio (D-Park Slope), Letitia James (D-Fort Greene) and David Yassky (D-Brooklyn Heights) have also gotten involved and are asking the state to stop the demolition.
