Health advocates spreading the word on how to keep children safe

The New York City Administration for Children’s Services held a child injury prevention resource fair on Thursday.
Community health advocates were present at the Bronx River Houses to inform parents on the best ways to keep their children out of harm’s way.
Multiple city agencies and health clinics provided handouts and information on CPR awareness, the dangers of lead paint, crib safety and more.
“It’s critical that the resources are free, because we don’t want finances to stand in the way of a parent’s ability to keep their child safe,” said Elizabeth Wolkomir, deputy commissioner for child and family well-being for NYC ACS.
ACS handed out lock boxes that parents should use to help keep medicine and cannabis products out of the hands of their children.
Saturday is National Injury Prevention Day, and the ACS will hold a similar child safety event in Brooklyn.
