Despite heavy rains, community members showed up in droves for a town hall with Rep. Hakeem Jefferies, who has constituents in areas like East New York and Canarsie.
Dozens lined up for a chance to air out their grievances Thursday night in the direction of a panel made up of various city agencies, including the departments of sanitation, transportation and the police department. The group took repeated questions about the country's health care system to the cleanliness of community streets.
At least three people asked Jefferies about his stance on a "Medicare For All." He kept reiterating that he still has to review the legislation. He says, in the meantime, he will focus on bringing down prescription drug prices.
