A cold front is slowly moving across the region today, as Hurricane Arthur bears down on the East Coast.
The cold front will move in and gradually dissipate, while interacting with tropical moisture from Arthur. This will likely result in numerous heavy downpours and thunderstorms.
By this afternoon, the greatest threats of rainfall will shift east of New York City.
Today's temperatures are expected to reach the middle and upper 70s to near 80.
Brooklyn residents say they just hope that whatever rain or humidity comes over the July Fourth holiday will at least clear up in time for them to enjoy the fireworks.
The fireworks on the East River happen rain or shine, so residents are urged to have their rain gear if they head out to view.
