Hempstead man sentenced to 10 years in prison for sex trafficking

The Suffolk district attorney says William Wilkinson forced victims into prostitution in order to pay off purported debts he claimed the victims owed him.

A Hempstead man was sentenced to 10 years behind bars for running a sex trafficking ring on Long Island.
The Suffolk district attorney says William Wilkinson forced victims into prostitution in order to pay off purported debts he claimed the victims owed him. Some of the debts were for food, shelter and narcotics.
Wilkinson recruited victims in person as well as through social media beginning in September of 1999.
