School was back in session for thousands of Catholic school students across the city today. News 12 caught up with parents, students and teachers about their first day.
It was the first day of school at St. Mark Catholic Academy, and students filled the classrooms with smiles and by showing kind gestures of appreciation.
That excitement didn't skip over teachers either, who say they spent all summer preparing for today.
The staff says the school is seeing explosive growth in enrollment this year with more than 360 students compared to 260 five years ago.
To help with that boost, the school hired its first assistant principal in St. Mark's history.
After dealing with COVID-19 the last two years, families can expect to see a bit of normalcy as the school is easing up on most of its COVID-19 protocols.
