New York's bravest were honored today in the first 'Heroes of the Month' event at Borough Hall.
Borough President Eric Adams said he wanted to honor the accomplishments of Brooklyn residents from all walks of life for the Hero of the Month.
On Wednesday, he marked the first event by celebrating the brave actions of firefighters and EMTs.
The heroes were given honorary citations for saving the lives of three children back on July 29 at the Pink Houses in East New York. The fire broke out on the fourth floor of an eight-story building at 1308 Loring Ave.
The EMTs and firefighters say they are proud to represent their departments.
Adams says the purpose Hero of the Month is to spread a positive message and to encourage Brooklyn residents to volunteer and take on the spirit of service in their community.
