The borough?s best high school gridiron stars have received their accolades for this season?s accomplishments.

The New York City High School Football Coaches Association dished out its annual awards for All-Academic, All-Borough and All-City teams to the city?s top players, including a number of Bronx students.

Lehman Lions Coach Carmine Colasanto is also being recognized for a big season. Colasanto, the city?s all-time wins leader, grabbed his 200th career win this season. His team led the way with 11 selections to the All-Borough roster. The Kennedy Knights also had 11 players named to the Bronx elite.

Two Bronx players received All-City honors. Lehman?s Raul Benedettis was the borough?s only representative on the All-City defense, finishing the season with 60 tackles and three interceptions. JFK lineman Kevin Douglas was also picked for the All-City team. Douglas is the squad?s only junior selected on offense.

Three Bronx students were named to the All-Academic team for matching brains with brawn. Manny Colon and Shamel Jacobs from Clinton scored spots on the squad with their 86 averages. Sylvestri Maldonado of the South Bronx joined them, managing a 96 average in addition to his pigskin accomplishments.
