Hip-hop turns 50: More than 20 artists perform at East New York concert

Over 20 hip-hop artists and hundreds of concertgoers celebrated 50 years of hip-hop in East New York on Saturday.

Over 20 hip-hop artists and hundreds of concertgoers celebrated 50 years of hip-hop in East New York on Saturday.    
The concert was hosted by Ralph McDaniels, the founder of Video Music Box, in partnership with Assemblywoman Nikki Lucas, Council Member-elect Chris Banks and DJ Keith Watkins. 
Concertgoers enjoyed music and celebrated what hip-hop has done to lift their local community. 
Assemblywoman Lucas told News 12 that this is the first hip-hop concert hosted by her office in Brooklyn and there are plans to make it an annual event.
