A historic, post-Civil War church in Boerum Hill is being prepared for demolition.
The Church of the Redeemer at Pacific Street and Fourth Avenue was built more than 140 years ago and meant to serve immigrants.
The Episcopal Diocese of Long Island, which owns the church, says renovations could have cost up to $5 million. The diocese instead choose to sell it for $20 million.
Members of the Boerum Hill Association say they are disappointed that the Gothic-style house of worship was sold, instead of renting it out as a day care center or arts facility.
The money from the sale will be used for other ministries in Brooklyn.
