Holiday shoppers search for last-minute gifts amid spiking COVID cases

The Mall at Bay Plaza in the Bronx is requiring people to wear their masks while inside. Some businesses are limiting the number of people allowed inside, forcing lines to extend outside of the stores.

As many begin to change their holiday plans because of rising COVID-19 numbers throughout the state, shoppers were still determined on Saturday to get those last-minute presents. 
The Mall at Bay Plaza in the Bronx is requiring people to wear their masks while inside. Some businesses are limiting the number of people allowed inside, forcing lines to extend outside of the stores.  
Bronx residents expressed their concern on climbing COVID cases but wanted to get their shopping done.
"I always have it in the back of my mind," says Elsie Saldana. "I don't want to let it stop me.'
One resident told News 12 that being vaccinated and boosted helps her feel better about being able to shop safely. 
"I'm so happy. I haven't gone to the mall in two years," says Alba Lebron. "I am here protected.
For those who are not so confident, there is always online shopping.
