Nearly 40,000 people came together for the 24th annual Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk NYC – retracing the final footsteps of FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller.
The run from Brooklyn through the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel into Lower Manhattan honors the 343 firefighters, law enforcement officers and thousands of civilians who died on 9/11, as well as those who continue to suffer from 9/11-related illnesses.
It also honored the approximately 7,000 service members killed in the post 9/11 wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
