Hostos Community College awarded one of its students a scholarship to celebrate Dominican Independence Day yesterday.
During an afternoon filled with traditional music from the island, Rosa Maria Castro received the award, which she says will help her continue her studies.
Hostos' 7,000 student body is 30 percent Dominican.
