News 12 got a detailed look at the campaign war chests in the most crucial races across the tri-state that could tip the balance of power in Washington, D.C. next year.

It comes as the latest fundraising and spending totals of the candidates for the hottest House seats were made public in campaign finance reports to the Federal Election Commission over the weekend.

Republican incumbent Rep. Mike Lawler is gearing up for a tough reelection fight in the 17th Congressional District in Rockland and Westchester counties.

He reported a fundraising total of $902,000.

The Democrats who hope to replace him have raised far less.

Katonah-Lewisboro school board member Liz Gereghty brought in $402,000.

Former Rep. Mondaire Jones is just getting started with his campaign, and former Bedford Town Council Member MaryAnn Carr is not expected to formally declare her candidacy until later this week.

In the nearby 18th Congressional District, freshman Democratic incumbent Rep. Pat Ryan is off to a strong start, reporting $628,000 compared to just $7,000 for his Republican challenger, Lovelynn Gwinn.

Scandalized Rep. George Santos is a top target for Democrats and the subject of several criminal investigations. He raised $162,000 - about $30,000 less than his fellow Republican challenger, Kellen Curry.

Out of the seven Democrats fighting to oust Santos from office, Joshua Lafazan is ahead of the pack with $203,000 in the past three months.

Some of the highest numbers in the nation were reported in New York City.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, from Brooklyn, amassed the second largest campaign war chest in the nation.

Bronx's Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ranked eighth.
