Police discovered human body parts inside a box left near a Fort Greene park Tuesday night.
Authorities say they received a 911 call about a suspicious package in front of 206 Washington Park. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a cardboard moving box that contained a black plastic bag leaking blood.
Some local residents were hoping the gruesome discovery was a Halloween hoax, but the blood and remains inside the box were all too real.
Police say they have not yet determined where the body came from, but based on witness accounts, the box was probably dropped off sometime between 5 and 7 p.m.
The incident comes only a few months after a person was shot near the park, leaving local residents wondering what is happening to their neighborhood.
?You don't expect to come home and find a body thrown on your stoop, it's dreadful,? says resident Simone Ellis.
Police will deliver the box with the remains to the medical examiner?s office, where experts will try to determine the identity of the victim.
