Police say what looks like human skeletal remains have been found in Dumbo.

Parks department officers made the discovery Monday morning at 55 Water St. just before 9 a.m.

Residents in the area were in shock to hear about the discovery, and some of them even said they saw those remains themselves. One woman who spoke with News 12 off camera saying she saw a skull, hip, and femur.

People gathered around at Dumbo Park to watch members of the NYPD and Parks Department investigate the area.

"This is Dumbo Park, I don't understand why this would be a dumping place," said one Brooklyn resident. "And I'm happy I didn't have my son with me."

Authorities are now working to find out what happened and are awaiting a report from the medical examiner.
