Hundreds of people turned out to Brownsville on Saturday for the 13th annual Summerfest, a health fair that aims to promote health awareness among local families.
The block party-style event on Rockaway Avenue helped to let residents know about available health resources in their community.
Dozens of vendors offered everything from free messages to alleviate streess, to HIV and dental screenings.
The Department of Health says Brownsville has one of the highest rates of HIV and diabetes in New York City.
Organizers plan to hold an even larger event next year.
