? Police are searching for a gunman who shot a 9-year-old boy in the head Monday evening in Weeksville. Authorities say the incident occurred at around 9 p.m. on Pacific Street. According to investigators, Shamshawan Kelly was playing with friends when he was hit by a stray bullet. The boy was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. The victim?s father says his son has been moving his legs, and the family hopes he will make a full recovery. On Tuesday, the victim?s family and Brooklyn community leaders joined together in front of 1670 Pacific St., where the boy was shot, to send out a message to urge the gunman to come forward.?When something like this happens, I?m pretty sure the person or people that have something to do with this feel bad,? says Johnnie Flocker, the victim?s brother. ?If you don?t, you don?t have a conscience.?The boy?s family members and civic leaders say they hope that those with guns will learn something from this tragedy and will choose to stop the violence on the streets.?When you take a gun, and you put it in the hands of a young person who is absolutely half-delusional and has no value for life, you got yourself a situation we face today,? says Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. Members of the community will gather again later in the day in front of the Weeksville housing complex to pray for the boy?s recovery.
