"I Stand With Immigrants" held its ninth annual event to kick off Immigrant Heritage Month on Friday, where Bronx residents got to try cuisine from many different cultures.
The event had been held virtually for the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lead creative director Daniel Leon-Davis helped to coordinate the event as a way for community members to explore and celebrate their heritage and other heritages.
“During those nine years, food has been a huge, huge way to bring people together,” said Leon-Davis. “So this year when we decided to go out on our first tour since the pandemic started, we wanted something to do with food."
The food was free, and event organizers were even seen handing out free shirts. "I Stand With Immigrants" representatives told News 12 they’ll be in Brooklyn Saturday to continue their kick-off for Immigrant Heritage Month.
