Authorities arrested a P.S. 236 volunteer Wednesday over inappropriate text messages that he allegedly sent to a male student.
According to the special commissioner of investigation for schools, 23-year-old Colin Leahy sent dozens of explicit text messages to a 12-year-old boy. Officials also say Leahy took two 10-year-old students to the movies and made sexual comments to them.
Investigators say Leahy often bragged to students about auditioning for "American Idol" in 2004. One parent told News 12 Brooklyn Leahy just "didn't seem right" from the beginning.
He faces two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The Department of Education has also placed Leahy on an ineligible to volunteer list.
