A desperate search is underway for a 19-year-old Buffalo State University student from the Bronx, who hasn’t been seen since Saturday. Now, her family traveled up to Buffalo in hopes of finding her.
A photo captured from surveillance video shows Saniyya Dennis leaving her dorm on Saturday night.
Her mother, Latisha Dennis, says they would talk once or twice a day and that this is “out of character” for her.
She says she last spoke to Dennis over text message on Sunday at around 12:10 a.m. She said she tried calling her daughter after that, but her daughter didn’t answer.
Instead, Dennis texted her mother saying she loved her and that she’d call her the next day, but she never did.
Latisha Dennis says the following day she tried called her daughter, and when no one picked up, she asked the school to do a wellness check.
She says there hasn’t been any activity on her credit cards. "I want her to know that I'm here in Buffalo. I'm looking for her. I will never stop looking for her. That she can call me, she can contact me. I'm here and I just want her returned to me safely,” said Latisha Dennis.
The family says they have been staying at a hotel in Buffalo in hopes that she comes home soon.
They have put out a $5,000 reward for her safe return.
