Crews with the Department of Sanitation are preparing for Wednesday's storm in New York, adding another hurdle for restaurant owners beset with the pandemic.
The Department of Sanitation of New York says salt spreaders are already filled, and garbage trucks will be transformed into snowplows.
However, it is an additional blow to the restaurant industry in the city which is limited to outdoor dining. Restaurants who offer roadside dining will have to close by 2 p.m. Wednesday and may not be able to open back up until Thursday night, depending on conditions.
Diners are prohibited from sitting in roadway setups, and restaurants will need to remove or secure any tables, chairs and heaters that are in the roadway. Overhead coverings must be regularly cleared of snow or taken down altogether until the snow alert ends.
