? Many Sunset Park residents will soon enjoy the nearby water for the first time as the city plans to turn a polluted site into a park.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NYC) and Governor George Pataki (R-NY) announced Thursday that the area will be cleaned up for $36 million. Residents say the waterfront is polluted with oil spills, waste and dumping from industrial companies.
The cleanup is expected to take at least a year.
