Interfaith Medical Center in Crown Heights launched its "Prescribe a Bike" program Friday during its second annual Bishop Health Fair.
Organizers say the program aims to help patients combat all types of health issues, especially obesity.
In order to become eligible for the program, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Crown Heights residents would have to visit an Interfaith Medical Center doctor, pass a test and attend an orientation.
"We want to make a difference there. We can start prescribing bikes, we can start providing free health screenings and providing free educational opportunities," says Interfaith Medical Center President LaRay Brown.
