Gov. Kathy Hochul responded to the backlash she has received from Brooklyn Democrats for her pick of Adrienne Adams as her running mate.
That borough's Democrats rescinded their endorsement of Hochul after she announced her choice for lieutenant governor on Wednesday.
"You look at one person's grief and beef, it doesn't matter," she said in a one-on-one interview Thursday with News 12 senior reporter Tara Rosenblum.
The Kings County Democratic County Committee said they were not consulted about Adams before Hochul's running mate announcement was made.
"This is a response to the political miscalculation on the part of the Governor’s campaign and their failure to engage or consult Brooklyn Democratic leaders who represent New York’s largest Democratic delegation," the Kings County Democratic County Committee said in a statement.
Adams is a former New York City Council speaker from Queens and ran for mayor last year. Hochul and Adams are the first all-women governor and lieutenant governor ticket in New York's history.
