Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson embraced a history-making moment, giving remarks Friday at the White House following her confirmation to the United States Supreme Court.
Rebekah Gordon, who is from Brooklyn and is a recent law school graduate, says that this monumental moment will pave the way for future generations.
"It felt like a dream. Seeing a Black woman with natural hair, who didn't conform to any other kind of European conventions. It just gave me the level of encouragement that I needed to know that there's no seat too high for my personal career," said Gordon.
As Jackson prepares to take her seat on the bench once Justice Stephen Breyer officially retires this summer, Gordon says she's looking forward to seeing Jackson’s impact.
"For an African American woman to sit at the top seat, it's a great benchmark for us, and I hope to see more diversity on that bench to really reflect the diversity of our country,” said Gordon.
