A judge took a rare tour Wednesday of a Williamsburg building whose landlord has been unofficially dubbed the city's "worst landlord."
Housing Court Judge Timmie Elsner visited more than 12 apartments and three vacant units at 188 S. 3rd St. Elsner's findings could be entered into evidence in an upcoming trial.
Tenant Jacquelyn Hernandez is one of several people who filed suit against landlord Adam Mermelstein. Hernandez, who has been looking forward to the judge's visit, says Mermelstein is trying to make life miserable for renters by failing to make repairs. The plaintiffs claim Mermelstein wants them to move so he can raise rents.
