Brooklyn
residents celebrated Juneteenth at Linden Park on Monday.
The celebration was coordinated by Council Member
Charles Barron, East New York Restoration and The Victory Music &
Dance Company. It was aimed at ending violence and empowering young Black
children.
Attendees
and participants in the celebration listened to spoken word poetry,
observed dance performances and enjoyed live music.
Barron
and former Council Member Ines
Barron says their offices have been celebrating Juneteenth for over two
decades.
Speakers
at the celebration said they hope this celebration of emancipation keeps growing
every year.
