Juneteeth flag raising ceremony held at CT state Capitol

A Juneteenth flag raising ceremony was held at the Connecticut state Capitol Wednesday.
State Sen. Marilyn Moore held a press conference with the group Juneteenth of Fairfield County.
Juneteenth commemorates when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas found out they were free in 1865.
This was about two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
Wednesday marked the first time in state history that a Juneteenth flag was flown on the Capitol building.
Juneteenth is on Saturday, and many celebrations are planned throughout the state.
