A Coney Island mother says she is fed with the conditions of her apartment, which include lead exposure.

News 12's cameras on Monday captured broken tiles, fractured flooring, and cracked walls line in Sandra Leon's apartment in the Coney Island Houses.

She has repair tickets dating back to 2023, and NYCHA report from January 2025 found lead-based paint in her bathroom.

She also says she has been told the cracked tile also contains lead. Still, she says nothing has been done to repair the issues.

"It's just plain horrible. This is three years in the making." Leon said. "They know that there's lead, but nothing is getting done.

In a statement to News 12, NYCHA responded:

"NYCHA staff will work with the resident to schedule the necessary abatement and expedite the carpentry, plastering and painting work. NYCHA provides lead abatement to all residents through its groundbreaking TEMPO abatement program. Residents in need of assistance are encouraged to call the Customer Contact Center at 718-707-7771 or submit work tickets through the MyNYCHA application."
