Protests erupted throughout New York City on Saturday in response to the deaths of young Black and brown people at the hands of police.
Members of Street Riders NYC gathered at Barclays Center for a “justice ride.” Bicyclists showed up from all over the city to participate.
Peter Kerre, an organizer of the group, says the group is fed up with police brutality.
"Today we're out, we're disappointed, we're upset, we're fed up...and we're going to be loud and let the world know," Kerre says.
Kerre and many of other protesters say they are angered by the deaths of people in the Black community at the hands of police. They say this is a situation that keeps happening across the country.
On April 11, 20-year-old Daunte Wright was shot and killed in what was supposed to be a routine traffic stop by Kimberly Potter - a former Minnesota police officer.
On March 29, 13-year-old Adam Toledo was shot and killed by police in Chicago, even though body camera footage showed that Toledo's hands were up.
Street Riders NYC says Saturday's rally was their 22nd bike ride for justice. The group first came together after the death of George Floyd in May 2020.
Organizers say they are going to continue to ride throughout the city until their voices are heard.
