A Kane In Your Corner investigation is prompting lawmakers to take action against animal rescue organizations that may be misleading the public.

One such group, Pixies and Paws, has come under scrutiny for its practices. The organization, which charges hefty adoption fees, has been purchasing dogs from large commercial breeders, often referred to as puppy mills.

New Jersey state Sen. Raj Mukherji is sponsoring a bill to prohibit animal rescue organizations, pet stores, and shelters from buying cats, dogs, and rabbits from breeders.

Despite repeated attempts to contact Pixies and Paws, the organization has not responded. The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs is currently investigating complaints against the group.
