It's becoming easier and easier for scammers to target you.
Experts say to beware of anyone who insists you must act immediately. Many scam attempts now begin with texts that appear to be wrong numbers, designed to get you to engage in conversation.
"When you don't want to conform to investing large sums of money, they'll turn that against you," said author Martina Dove. "They'll say things like, 'I thought you said you were a person with vision.'"
She recommends taking time to think when confronted with suspicious messages.
