Kensington supermarket workers demand fair wages
Employees of a Kensington supermarket protested outside the store Sunday, demanding thousands of dollars in back wages.
The Golden Farm Market workers say they were paid below minimum wage for almost a decade at the Church Avenue store. They say they're suing the company and only began receiving minimum wage last summer after the Department of Labor looked into wage theft allegations.
The workers, along with many shoppers who are supporting them, say they have events planned throughout the week and will end with a 24-hour boycott of the store next Saturday.
The owner of Golden Farm insists employees are being paid properly.
