The Kentile Floors sign is finally coming down after sitting on top of a Gowanus warehouse on Ninth Street for the last 65 years.
Fans of the sign paid a final tribute to the landmark tonight with a light tribute projected onto it.
The owner of the building agreed to donate the sign to the Gowanus Alliance with cooperation from Councilman Brad Landers' office.
The decision came after fans of the sign protested and demanded that the landmark stay where it is. However, the protesters weren't successful.
The sign won't be moved anywhere right away, but the Gowanus Alliance has promised to work with local officials to find a suitable location for it.
