As you can imagine an NYPD police station must receive a lot of mail, and the 77th precinct in Crown Heights is no different. But recently officers were surprised at something they had received from the postal service. Surprised, and appreciative. All thanks to a care package the department received from two children.
Deputy Inspector Eddie Lott says it feels great knowing that police officers are appreciated in the borough. "It shows the appreciation and it goes to show the officers that they're valued," Lott says. B
But these letters didn't come from children in Brooklyn. They came from a brother and sister in Arizona, all the way across the country. Tayler and her little brother Caleb say they are on a mission to thank every cop for their service, no matter how far away they are.
What started as a summer project has turned into a mission for the two who want to show every police officer how much they are appreciated. So far, the siblings have reached 200 police departments nationwide.
In New York City, they have sent 1,000 thank you notes, inspiring officers at 17 different police precincts.
