With the New York Knicks in the middle of a six-game losing streak, head coach Mike D'Antoni announced his resignation today after three and a half seasons in New York.
The Knicks have struggled all season, despite the presence of players such as Carmelo Anthony and Jeremy Lin. The team has an 18-24 record and is currently tied for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
D'Antoni called the resignation a "mutual decision" over "conflicting views on the Knicks' future." Assistant Mike Woodson will take over as interim head coach tonight when the Knicks host the Portland Trail Blazers at Madison Square Garden.
