Thousands of Knicks fans packed watch parties across New York City Monday night, hoping to see their team move one step closer to an NBA title.
But after the Knicks' Game 3 loss, some celebrations turned chaotic in parts of Manhattan.
First responders tell News 12 that two police officers were treated for minor injuries. Another person was taken to a hospital. The extent of that person's injuries has not been released.
The game ended around 11:35 p.m., and large crowds began gathering in several areas of Manhattan shortly afterward.
Citizen video shared with News 12 shows a massive crowd near 34th Street and the Port Authority area. At one point, several people could be seen standing and dancing on top of a car while others recorded the scene on their phones.
The crowds formed after fans gathered at watch parties across the city to cheer on the Knicks.
A planned watch party outside Madison Square Garden was canceled because of heightened security surrounding President Donald Trump's attendance at Game 3. In its place, the city hosted official watch parties at Bryant Park, Central Park and Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg.
Video from Brooklyn Bowl showed fans arriving early and packing the venue as they watched the game together. The event appeared to wrap up without major issues.
Police say officers were also called to help manage crowds at the official watch party in Bryant Park.
The NYPD confirmed that multiple people were taken into custody there but has not yet released an exact number or provided details about possible charges.
Despite the loss, the Knicks still lead the NBA Finals series 2-1. Game 4 is set for Wednesday night in New York.
