A senior vice president for Susan G. Komen for the Cure has called it quits amid controversy surrounding its funding to Planned Parenthood.
Karen Handel announced yesterday she's leaving her post and pledged her opposition to abortion. She had been a key player behind the foundation's decision to partially sever its long-standing partnership with Planned Parenthood, including centerS in Brooklyn.
The foundation reversed its decision following major public backlash. Planned Parenthood maintains that money it receives largely pays for breast exams and that abortions only account for 3 percent of client services.
