Late-night L train commuters are in for a headache for the duration of this week.
Every L line station between Broadway Junction and Eighth Avenue in Manhattan will be closed from 10:45 p.m. through 5 a.m. every weekday this week. Then, beginning Friday night, those stations will be shut down through Monday morning.
These changes were announced last year to prepare for the complete L train shutdown that is no longer happening. Nonetheless, track maintenance is moving forward, to the dismay of commuters.
"I mean as far as my job goes, I bartend so I'm out really late, so I can't take the L back home." says commuter Hunter Menken. "I work in Williamsburg, so like anything past 10:45 I'm just like, 'Oh, well.'"
The MTA says it will provide shuttle bus service as an alternate way to get around during the overnight shutdown.
The MTA responded to a News 12 request for comment, saying, "We're keeping our commitment to perform the track, switch and signal replacement work that was always part of the L project."
