Students and teachers at one Brooklyn school are concerned about the shortage of textbooks and are demanding something be done about the situation.
Students at Lafayette High School say their grades are suffering due to a lack of textbooks in such core subjects as math and history. They say they either have no textbooks at all or have ones that are so outdated they are of no use.
Teachers say they have complained to the Department of Education, claiming they can't teach students without the proper materials. The teachers fear kids won't make the grade with the increasing demand on student achievement. DOE officials say they are looking into the situation.
