A large tree fell down along 79th Street and 15th Avenue in Bensonhurst on Monday morning, hitting multiple cars and causing power lines to fall down.

Residents tell News 12 they heard a loud noise around 5 a.m. and spotted the tree. Debris, branches and tree trunks were spotted across the entire street.

“I was surprised, I didn’t know how bad it was until this morning when I got out,” said nearby resident Jerry Nazarre. “Luckily, my car wasn’t around, but whoever’s car was there, I’m so sorry to see that.”

The New York City Parks Department was able to arrive and clear most of the debris from the scene while cutting down the leftover part of the tree.
