Residents throughout Brooklyn braced for snow accumulation and strong winds as they rang in the new year.
The sanitation department started spreading its salt and sand mixture on Brooklyn streets just in time for the last storm of the year.
Motorists had to handle rapidly changing conditions and were advised to use caution on the roads.
