Laura Linney and Jessica Hecht star as two women who forge a surprising friendship in “Summer, 1976."
"There are the relationships that really change you. And there are the relationship that are incredibly deep. And very full. And are unlike any other friendship you have," says Linney, a five time Tony Award nominee. " So I think this certainly looks at a relationship that is in that category."
Hecht adds, "it's a slightly unlikely friendship that's formed between two women that are very different. But an extremely deep friendship."
Written by David Auburn ("Proof") and directed by Daniel Sullivan ("The Merchant of Venice," "Good People,") "Summer, 1976" - now in previews - is a production of Manhattan Theatre Club and is being performed at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre through May 28.
