State lawmakers say they plan on surveying students across New York for recommendations on how to best legislate against cyber-bullying. State Senators Eric Adams (D-20th District) and Jeff Klein (D-34th District) came to the New Beginnings Charter School on Lewis Avenue in Bed-Stuy to ask students how to deter Internet bullies. They say they will push to draft a law criminalizing such offenders once 10,000 students fill out the questionnaire. "When we were bullied, it stayed inside a classroom or inside one building," said Sen. Adams. "Now, with the technology, when a child is bullied, it goes throughout the entire country and, if not, it goes international." Sen. Adams also announced a citywide competition urging students to submit the 10 best actions parents can take to prevent cyber-bulling. The winner will receive $500.
