With temperatures on the decline, fire safety has moved to the forefront of many people’s minds in the New York City area.
Better protections for residents in apartment buildings were demanded following the devastating Twin Parks fire that took place in January of 2022. Rep. Ritchie Torres says that while some progress has been made, there’s still more work to be done.
“Even though the mission is far from accomplished we're making progress towards improving fire safety,” said Torres. “I've passed legislation that would empower U.S. Fire Administration to investigate the deadliest fires in the nation so that we can translate lessons learned into best practices in fire safety and fire prevention.”
