Lawman Lynch immigrated to America in 2010.
He was born in Kingston, Jamaica - and District 41 was his first stop on the journey.
"Ever since I came to America, I have been working in youth and community development,” said Lynch. “Particularly, through nonprofit organizations."
He said his passion for creating a space of opportunities and change for his neighborhood is the driving force for his campaign.
"I'm really an advocate for people on a whole,” said Lynch. “Politics is just a vehicle to really advance those who are most vulnerable."
At the center of Lynch's campaign is ‘P.E.O.P.L.E’. Public safety, education, optimization, public health, love and entrepreneurship.
"I believe at best,” said Lynch. “The majority, if not all our schools in District 41, should take on the format of community schools. We want to ensure that there is a mental health professional in all our public schools."
For him, investment in youth will bring big returns for the larger communities he wants to serve.
"Once we get into City Hall,” said Lynch. “We will be investing in a universal after-school program. Hard policing alone will not solve the problem."
The need for housing is also not lost on him.
"Until we get affordable housing correct– which is a mental health issue, which is a social justice issue,” said Lynch. “We definitely have to freeze the rent like capital right now. We should not be paying no more than 25% of what our annual income is for rent. I know as a government, we have to balance the books, but what about balance in people's lives?”
Lynch says he wants voters to see themselves in him when it's time to cast their ballots.
“We will do an injustice and a disservice to ourselves if we do not change the leadership of this district right now,” said Lynch.
