A Lehman College journalism graduate and teacher is now adding award-winning documentary filmmaker to her resume.
Sophia Tewa won best documentary at the Winter 2012 Hollywood Cinema Film Festival for her project "The People the Rain Forgot," which shows the struggles facing Kenya in one of the deadliest droughts in its history.
Tewa spent six months putting the documentary together, using just two photographers and more than $10,000 of her own money. She says that the experience was life-changing.
