A New York City football star is looking to accomplish big things on the highest level as he begins his promising new career news. 12 sports director Pat o'keefe has more. Brooklyn's Israel Abakan is living out a dream, a dream that he said since he was four years old and that is to play in the NFL. And it's not just any NFL team, but the one in his own backyard news 12 was with Abakan and his family less than three weeks ago when that dream became reality, the former star from Coney Island's Lincoln High School and then the University of Pittsburgh is now a New York Jets selected in the fifth round. He signed a four year contract worth $4.1 million including a $335,000 signing bonus. It was kind of a hard process, you know, because everybody didn't really believe in me. A lot of people doubt it. Like, you know, you can't play football, go to the NFL from Brooklyn New York, but, you know, I felt like I could show them and also Curtis leading the way from Brooklyn New York. I felt like I could be the next one. The Mets coming off their best and most dramatic win of the season on Wednesday night looking to back that up in the rubber match of their three game series against the Rays on Thursday afternoon, a gorgeous day at Citi field just under 30,000 fans came out for the series finale. They saw the red hot Pete Alonso his major league leading 16 th home run in the fourth inning Alonzo with a homer in all three games of the series. Tyler mcgill pitched terrific for the Mets. A rare mistake was this home run by Josh Lowe to tie the game at two in the sixth, but the Mets get that right back in the bottom of the sixth. Jeff mcneil scores on the R B I infield single by Tommy Pham Mets win 3 to 2 and take two out of three games against the best team in baseball. I'm pat o'keefe.
